And is Metro a safer, more reliable service?

Yeah, right...

So many lives cut short because of Metro. So many families will have to live the rest of their lives knowing their loved ones didn't need to die.

I think of this as a Metro publicity stunt. Metro gathers together families of accident victims, the interested public, and the media to tell how much better Metro is at protecting the riding public. A great staged photo-op showing "concerned" faces, the whole time ignoring their safety record before and after the accident.

“OK we can wash our hands of this now” running through their heads while Jackie Jeter looks on and tries to think how her union can make a couple of extra bucks out of this.

I can't believe Metro hasn't fixed any of the problems that caused the Red Line crash. We're still running crappy cars on tracks with malfunctioning circuits. I never would have thought Metro would be less safe one year later -- if the crash wasn't a wake-up call, what will it take for Metro to take their jobs seriously?

So sad for the families. Sad day.

no words....really, just no words.

The least they could do is well... do something about it.

My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones because of a callous and uncaring system.

I a confident everyone will drive to the memorial instead of taking Metro.

Did anyone catch the article in the Post this past weekend? It was pretty harsh on Metro and how last minute this all was. A lot of the families have said they will not attend and are still furious with Metro over the lack of change and compassion for them.

I couldn't find the link for it right away to post with my comments.

Have you seen what greater greater washington has said about you?

I think Dave Alpert on GGW has a legitimate point. What he means to say is that if you just toned down on your criticism, people would think that Metro was better than it was, and more people would ride it.

I think he (rightly) concludes that people shouldn't be confused with negative criticism, because everyone would just be happier if they thought everyone was A-OK.
