According to
this DC Examiner report, assaults on WMATA bus drivers were up last year, with 70 incidents compared to 55 in 2007. According to the report, "Metrobus drivers were hit with eggs, spit, pepper spray and a rock last year."
The article even goes on to speculate that one reason for the attacks is a "backlash that drivers face in a system in which one out of every four buses is late."
Do you think that's a valid assessment?
Those bus drivers are exposed to a lot of people, many of them with issues. I'd say 77+/- assaults in a year is nothing more than a statistical certainty
