Metro: No Chips Allowed

Our post on the police officer allegedly breaking Metro's sacred no eating and drinking rules has garnered a lot of interest. So much so that Metro's Ron Holzer responded personally. Well, we hope it was he, as it could have been that rascally @wmata.

His response is rather lengthy, so click here for the full comment. Here are a couple highlights:
Should you ever see a Metro employee eating in the system, we hope you would point out to them that it is against the rules as the writer did to the DC (and not Metro, we’re happy to say) police officer. You also have the option of reporting that employee to our customer service department – you can do this on-line with our Customer Comment form at http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/contact_us/ridercomment.cfm or by calling our Customer Assistance Line at 202-637-1328.

This summer we expect to launch a reinvigorated effort, including a marketing/educational campaign that will use humor, to discourage eating and drinking in the Metro system.

  1. They would also be wise to give Metro rail conductors a refresher course in pronunciation. I am so tired of hearing operators say "jew dishy airy square."

  2. So you are tired of hearing the correct pronunciation? I'm confused. Most times, I hear them say "ju-dish-u-airy." That is incorrect. According to the dictionary, it is pronounced jü-ˈdi-shē-ˌer-ē - which seems pretty darn close to your phonetic description. I know you will never read this but I just can't let it go.

  3. Welp...there's also Codge Park on the Green Line. I guess it is better than the static and garbled messages sending you to look out the window for what stop it is.
