WMATA's Resume Padding

We just couldn't let this go by. We live in a constant self promotion society, so some embellishment is expected, but this?

From the Metro Careers page.

As a leader in the transportation industry, Metro strives to attract and retain top-quality staff to ensure high-quality service to our customers. One way Metro achieves this goal is by providing a worklife that fosters the motivation and enthusiasm necessary to succeed. Metro offers its employees an excellent comprehensive benefits package, career development opportunities, pension plan, educational benefits, state-of-the-art technology, and much more.

Is Metro "achieving ... high-quality service?" Is Metro a leader? Are workers motivated and enthusiastic? Are they using state-of-the-art technology? If John Catoe's obscene compensation is any indication, the latter part of the boast is probably true.

We still love this picture of a WMATA employee taking a nap on the job. We hope his slumber is enthusiastic. One reader suggested the worker might just be taking a break. Does that seem plausible to you?
