I agree - it's not like they have a choice. If you can't drive safely (busses) or get power to your trains (above ground stations) you're not left with many options. Better to have a few people grumble about the lack of service, than several get injured or threaten lawsuits as they are involved in accidents or stranded.
Where are you going to go today anyway? Everything is closed. Not to mention, employees can't get to work (Metro employees or otherwise).
Can the new General Manager please ask Congress to include burying the above ground sections or to bore tunnels under existing tracks to give us service in inclement weather?
Brrrrrrrr...
ReplyDeleteSurely you don't disagree with this

Look again at the photo anon 10:13/10:53
ReplyDeletelooks like they fixed "serrvice", but apparently they're still not running any trains above "groud"
ReplyDeleteHeh.. it has now been fixed in both places. Good post.
ReplyDeletePut down NYC's old, raggedy subways if some of you want to, but NYC subways NEVER shut down.
ReplyDeleteIf they don't double check the spelling on the Web site, no wonder they have all these accidents. Carelessness, carelessness...WMMATA <3
ReplyDeleteIn NYC, they can hire the rats to run the trains when the regular operators can't make it in from the outer Burroughs.

ReplyDeletePlease.

ReplyDeleteIt's not worth it.
You know what really sucks? Metro not having above ground service 36 hours after the storm.
ReplyDeleteYou suck John Catoe.
um... Catoe resigned already. he's out of the picture.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 10:37 - He's still GM until April 1. Fire him now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI do like how the photo is of an above ground train. The snow in the background makes it even better.
ReplyDeleteTrains come every 30 minutes? Fine.
ReplyDeleteReal time train arrivals not working? Uhhhh.... thanks guys.
Normally I'd have to wait 6-12 minutes if I miss a train. Can't wait to sit at Metro Center for 30 minutes after I inevitably just miss my train!
