Look Who's Got DirecTV
According to WMATA: "The building that the dish is attached to has an operator's lounge. Metro does not offer or pay for this service. Employees can pool their money and purchase such services so they can watch television on their breaks or lunches."
Wonder if we can swing through during football season ...

I see no problem with this, next we will you guys be posting about employee break rooms that have deer park water or refrigerator?
No wonder you can never find a station manager when you need one. They're catching up on soaps!
@Joshua Don't see anything in the post that says there's anything wrong with this. It is interesting though. I've seen that dish every day and often wondered WTF. Now I know.
Why do they need a break room? Every WMATA worker I see appears to be on a break.
Glad metro doesn't pay for it alhtough sadly, i wouldn't have been shocked. still, one has to wonder what kind of incentive to work this is.
Excuse me if I don't believe this. Metro needs to take this shit away and make people do their JOB!
I ride to/from Huntington everyday, and if any station is rather pleasant, it's that station. Great view, pleasant breezes, plenty of parking, and the employees are above average (although with ATU local 689 that's not saying much). If DirecTV helps make the system a pleasant place to work and rubs off to our rider experience, go for it!
Share with the riders! Would make the delays more palatable. For what we're going to be paying, metro should have personal entertainment units on the backs of all the seats.
I've been inside that little booth before. It's two rooms. One is the aforementioned lounge - a really small room with a table, a TV, a water cooler, and a couple of chairs. There is no restroom, nor any plumbing of any kind. The other half, equally small, has signaling and communications equipment in it, and a very old schematic of the Huntington interlocking (likely original).
Regarding the DirecTV, if it means that the employees are happier and I'm not paying for it, I see no harm in it.
