Door Wizard has no Magic

From Dylan:

Thought I'd share a glimpse of a futile attempt to fix a non-closing door on a fully loaded train at Dupont Circle. They just offloaded, and the station is full of grumpy, wet commuters.

Italian tourists are laughing and taking pictures.

The aftermath:

@nekaro Dupont circle toward glenmont just now. And that's not even all of it. Wonder what happened. #wmata http://twitpic.com/2fvobw

Another view of Dupont this morning from Allan.

My yellow train to Mt. Vernon from Pentagon this morning had the opposite problem. We had one non-opening door. Way to go metro, I love paying extra money for this crap.

You think that's bad? The western side of the ride line has entire platforms held up by jacks (I'm thinking of you Shady Grove). It was so bad they bumped up the replacement by several years.
Yes I can. I've been stuck at the front several times with my toes hanging off the edge, hoping I won't be pushed out any further....
leave earlier so you don.t have to rush to the front,or drive your car and sit in traffic and pay 20.00 a day for parking if you don't like metro.
The Italian tourists would know, since many of the older Metro cars were made in Italy (by Breda Costruzioni Ferroviarie).

Now that's funny!!
the doors break because you morons hold them open
Actually, it's not usually us "morons" that hold the doors open...we just want to get to/from work/school/activities and generally know better. It's teenagers and tourists who I see holding the doors open. If they use a bag/umbrella/etc. to hold the door open and I'm nearby, I yank it out of the door and pretend I thought it got stuck.
just because the door was not held this time doesn't mean thats not the problem, holding them at one point or another will damage the doors.
I can vouch for the fact that nobody held this door open. Apparently it just didn't feel like closing.
I've seen that before. In fact one time, after determining that no one was standing in/blocking the doors, I had a train driver announce "will the people near the middle door in the second car please try to push the door closed." So apparently Metro's new game plan is to save money on maintenance personnel by having the paying passengers do the work. That train still got offloaded, btw.

I love that the "door wizard's" vest actually seems to be glowing... :-)
