U.S. Senators Benjamin L. Cardin and Barbara A. Mikulski (Both D-MD) have announced the submission of their formal request to the Senate Appropriations Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee to provide federal matching funds of $150 million for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, according to a press release.
Let's hope this begins the process of getting WMATA the dedicated funding it has so long said it needs. Let's also hope that WMATA is held accountable for every penny and that riders can enjoy better service.
