Today, to sign up Maryland for billions in new Metro funding, Gov. Larry Hogan - R(!) took the Metro, and Metro created an experience for him no rider gets to see.
Metro deleted it.

I mean, how bad does a system have to be to get kudos for managing two stops? #wmata— Talya Green (@GreenTalya) April 25, 2018
Apparently, they rode in a "private" car on public transportation. WHAT THE ... ?? #wmata pic.twitter.com/LCpJUZDtJ8— Unsuck DC Metro (@unsuckdcmetro) April 25, 2018

@StvBurns @GovLarryHogan it's almost as if they were running extra trains just for this publicity stunt pic.twitter.com/R1UqeIxtsT— Dan Donnelly (@DanTweetedThat) April 25, 2018
That’s why they were cleaning up the trash along the tracks this morning on #wmata #Redline! It took @GovLarryHogan visiting to get @Metrorailinfo to clean up! https://t.co/zHP9Ccl4wV— Jason Cottrell, Ph.D. (@DrJCottrell) April 25, 2018
From a Metro source on Larry Hogan's big day: "There had crews of wmata and contractors clean every corner between Bethesda and Grosvenor." #wmata— Unsuck DC Metro (@unsuckdcmetro) April 25, 2018
It’s comical how much brighter and cleaner Bethesda station is just because @GovLarryHogan was showing up to shovel tax dollars into #wmata pockets. It’s never been this bright and clean. pic.twitter.com/sIWhQwpyyu— E 💵 (@emlarsen) April 25, 2018

So, "tone deaf" seems to be the best phrase to describe Wednesday's events. But then none of this surprises me. You do have to spend money to change a culture and fix problems, but maybe you could phrase it a little bit better than "I have a lot of money to spend"?
