To be fair, there are a lot of assholes in DC and a good many of them deserve to be pelted with garbage. I'd need to hear more about this story before judging this WMATA employee.

Seriously! This is probably in my top ten of unsuck comments.

The real issue: few of the worthy trash-smash candidates ride metro. :(
Yeah, you're 100% right, but a professional being so surly that they hit people with garbage is just so horrible that I just have to laugh at it.

Wonder if you'd laugh if you were the one hit with the garbage...?
Yeah, I would. It's not like the employee would be fired or I could shame them into behaving properly. Might as well laugh at it.
I know you're just being a troll/satirist, but the Metro employee accidentally hit the "customer" with garbage. It was a shit-brained, entitled attitude that's the issue.

No public employee should be fired. Ever. No matter what they do.

They serve a public good: expanding public transportation and increasing smarth growth. If some people get assaulted with vulgarities and trash, well that's just the price we have to pay for progress folks.

smarth growth eh?

Yes, I'm trying to get the dictionary updated.

You see "smart growth" doesnt' really cover it. So I thought that maybe we can combine it to smarth growth.

See? Smart + Growth + Growth.

What's that you say? That doesn't make sense? It's exactly like my blog: http://greatergreaterwashington.org/

I could have just said "greater washington" (even though that's a fragment) but I thought it needed to be greater GREATER washington to really show how important my movement (and indeed *I*) am.

So now I'm going to introduce all the antis to smarth growth. It's smart GROWTH growth. Its growing smart but growing even more than my smart growth people think is smart.

When I'm done, current "smart growth" people will be the new antis.
You do a better David Alpert than the real David Alpert.
Why do you wear lipstick?

Because I'm not an anti.

I'm progressive thinking and realize that the "masculinity" is outdated concept.

You'll see me updating outdating concepts as time goes on on my blog. Look next for me to tackle the outdated concept of "open debate" on my blog: greatergreaterwashington.org

Don't beleive me? Try posting a comment that is not in line with what we believe or pointing out a factual error or that we need to do more research (or that I secretely own a car). I promise you'll see just how outdated your concept of "open debate" is.
Be careful man! you forget to type http: before the name of your blog... you missed a great opportunity to mention it for the 4th time today!
And BTW, most of the people here are not anti metro or anti public transportation or anti union... we are just observing that WMATA/Metro tends to manage the metro and bus system so bad that they just make people turn their back to metro and public transportation in general. By fighting this culture of incompetence, we actually ask and fight for a better better metroo.
Sorry to see my lipstick joke didn't do it to the wall... I understand, but that was a funny one ;-)
Continue the good job, Unsuck!

I can't believe you guys take his comments so seriously. Its called a PARODY!

I'm not doing Parody. I am letting all of you know that going against metro is a "1950's way of thinking".

All you antis need to stop complaining about Metro. You're lucky to have it. If it were up to you we'd all be living in a world where everyone had a car and there was no traffic. That's crazy talk.

You antis talk like Metro ought to delivery on time reliable safe service with curteous service.

I think you're all antis that aren't grateful that you get the "smarth growth" that will project us all into the future. If it were up to you we'd all still be in the 1950's and racially segregated.

See my blog on how racial segregation and racial hatred is the same as hating on bicycles or any smart growth (like metro):

There are some days when I wholeheartedly agree with Ryan. Just this morning, I'm driving in Clarendon (right by the metro stop) and the light of the intersection had been green for me for more than 5 seconds and some douchebag with headphones on starts crossing the street. I honked at him and he flicked me off. He backed up traffic for over 10 seconds while he slowly crossed the street flicking me, and other drivers, off. THAT guy deserves to be hit with garbage.

Okay, you made me laugh. I don't generally agree, but in certain cases - totally warranted.
I don't like the negativity of these actions. Positivism begets positivism. Let's all respect one another everyday no matter how we feel or what we don't like.

Some days I feel like sh___t but I put on a smile and thank people for their business.

Employees are to serve the public and look at the positive aspects of the job. There are many positive ways you can look at incidents and change situations. Think outside of the box.

I'm hit in the face by garbage every day enter the Metro system.
That is hilarious. Just so absurd it's hard to even imagine. It's like from some SNL skit

This would never be a problem if passengers didn't put their trash into trash receptacles in the first place.

I for one love when people call me "Bitch". Doesn't matter if it's a WMATA staff member saying hello or if it's every other single male on planet Earth when they meet me.
