It's how they make sure Union Station WMATA stays not crowded .. .mow down the peds before they can enter the station
Hardly news, unfortunately. At the intersection of East-West and Colesville, every day, the bus drivers are so lackadaisical about traffic signals that the flashing hand almost always appears before I can even start to cross the street. In fact, sometimes I don't even get to cross the street at all.
How can this driver be reported?

You can e-mail Sarles -- rsarles<at>wmata<dot>com but he won't respond.
You can fill out a customer service form and get a form reply.

Therein is the problem .. the bus drivers know they lack repercussions for actions that could get a normal person their license taken away. If anything ever happens to them (it won't) their union would then get them rehired with back-pay or a promotion. Just look at past cases. There is ZERO accountability, the staff knows it, so they don't care either, it seems.

This comment is racist. Buses and Bus Drivers provide smart growth. As we all know Smart Growth is the most important thing in the universe no matter what!

Curing Cancer? Boring.
Obeying Traffic Laws? Yawn
Firing Incompetent Drivers? Waste of time. These drives provide a valuable smart growth service, as such they should be allowed flexibility where the law is concerned.

To find out more about how buses, and bicycles are always right no matter what, read my blog!: http://greatergreaterwashington.org/
But buses are motor vehicles, therefore they are bad. Two wheels (and a chain) doog, four wheels baaaaaaad! We should have pedal powered buses instead.
Am I missing something - where could you tell that the bus is running a red light?

watch the walk light
yep, there is a delay there too to allow traffic making the left to clear the intersection before the walk signal comes on .. so he didn't just go at yellow, he blew through a red light
Mr. Unsuck, I think a note to watch the walk signal would be helpful. I didn't see it at first, either.
