A shoe was all that was left of the victim, who should have known better than to stand on the left. No identification has yet been made.

... spit out of the universe like a watermelon seed with only his shoe remaining?
What, exactly, are union rules for dealing with a dangerous sole?
Now that you've anthropomorphized an escalator, you must invoke rule 34.
The naughty bits were Photoshopped out.
Thanks all. Yesterday's word now applies. I just snarfed my coffee.
I do so love this blog.
I realize it's slightly outside the scope of the WMATA, but did you hear about the 900 stranded MARC train passengers this Monday evening? I don't normally hear... anything about MARC, which I'll take as a good thing. Will be interesting to see if their response will be better than Metro's.

MARC's response was already better than metro's. They gave out free tickets and apologized to their customers. NPR caught some of it.
Wow, you obtained actual proof as to why a Metro escalator would be out of service! That's a million-dollar photo, my friend.
Always get the exact / extract wrong:(
MARC gave out free tickets to a trainload of people, most of whom likely (a) did not even have their ticket collected that day, based on the number of bodies and (b) already have a monthly pass, making the free pass moot.
They also lied about giving people bottles of water, and took so long to react and move people that several passengers passed out and 911 was called ... by other passengers.
