I just don't understand why people do certain things in the Metro that are better suited to other places. I don't want to watch some dude warm up in short shorts at close range. At least do it outside where people can keep their distance. And what's with all the grooming on Metro? Nail clipping? Seriously?
I see quite a few people who get in the Metro who appear to have just come from the gym or some other kind of workout. From the smell of it, they clearly did not shower before gracing the public with their presence.
I see this guy all the time. He gets on at West Falls Church and gets off downtown. He obviously has some sort of disorder. He does these stretches and 'workouts' on his walk into the station, on the platform, and on the train. He is quite harmless, aside from the visuals presented. Personally, I feel bad for him.
Oh for god's sake. Folks are getting a little ridiculous. There's nothing wrong with this guy (and I agree with earlier poster, old? Hardly.). Kudos to him for being in fantastic shape - I'd kill for quads like that. God forbid there are a few of us out there that actually care about our bodies. Much rather see this guy than some fat lady chowing down on her Popeye's chicken. Oh and guess what - I'm one of those people who...gasp....goes to the gym and then gets on the metro. I know, I'm horrible. Is this really what you all are most worried about? Get a life. Better yet, get on a treadmill.
Great shape?!?!?!? My friend and I refer to this guy as "Skelatal Man."
He gets on at West Falls Church and is usually sweaty and greasy, and has his shorts (pants in cooler weather) safety pinned to keep them up. He performs his non-exercise (he swings his legs so wildly that he's not really getting any exercise), walks from one end of the train to the other, and then reads his newspaper. Oftentimes, he puts his work clothes on ON TOP of his gross workout clothes!
As weird as he is, I gree with the other posters who said he seems harmless.
That guy looks exactly like my dad - who is a marathon runner, and who does a similar series of stretches every morning after completing a long run. He's probably sweaty and greasy because he just ran and to me it looks like he's trying to loosen up his hamstrings. I say great shape because he looks like a hard core distance runner.
When I get on the metro in the evenings, I'm pretty sweaty and greasy too. Sorry if that offends the masses that prefer to munch potato chips on the couch.
If you are going to sit next to me, sweat all over me and stink up a storm? Yes I am worried. You are unhealthy and I really do not need to get to work smelling of your stink. (Nor smelling of the over-done perfume or that fried chicken breakfast.)
I have a life. That is why I do not want you stinking it up. ;)
Oh jeez. I may be sweaty and maybe even stinky after a run. But it's not like I'm going to fold myself around you and actually drip sweat on you. Unhealthy? Doubtful. And while I'm not a fan of the over done perfume, fried chicken or any other wonderful smell on the metro myself - banning people based on stink seems rather extreme. You don't like my healthy sweat stink? Move. I'm not going to.
So this is what THAT GUY does when he's not in the men's locker room blowdrying his balls or out riding his bike down constitution avevnue during rush hour all spandexed out.
People smelling like crap on the Metro is commonplace, and if it's not that it's the train itself smelling bad for whatever reason. I can accept that, but I just don't think it's cool for someone like this guy to make it even worse. If he wants to work out, he needs to find a gym of take himself HOME and go for a walk/run/whatever; just leave everyone else on the Metro out of it already! Metro riders have enough to worry about and jerks like this one don't help matters.
This person actually puts clothes on over his running clothes during his commute into the city. I'm slightly disappointed that that wasn't what the video captured
Over 700,000 of you take Metro every day. Whether it's a simple tweet from the front lines, a funny photo or story or something more substantial, tell us. Got an idea of something we should do? Let us know. More than half of this blog has been written by riders just like you.
