Via @tkukovich Officially the strangest thing I've seen on @wmata - a clown shoe. #happythursday yfrog.com/j2nbgpj

Different clowns, same circus.

Other items:
Wonder how Blue Line riders feel about this. (WMATA)
Can you say fare hike? (Examiner)
Track work this weekend (WMATA)
Board scales back on lavish lunches (Examiner)

How about a comic strip where board members count their money and poke fun of their conversations on how they can squeeze more money out of riders to pay for the 9% raise dc judge granted 10,000 employees with alreaded bloated paycheck.
I was shocked and appalled that the board did not EVEN DISCUSS the EXTREME DANGER it put its CUSTOMERS in at Rosslyn the other day.

Way to sweep it under the rug assholes.

There are quite a few posts on the front page (below this one) discussing exactly that. Familiarize yourself with the site before posting rubbish.

Way to only look at the top post rather than searching for yourself @sshole.
You may want to take your own advice, "learn to read."
Um, I think "victim" was talking about the Metro board's lack of response to the Rosslyn incident, not this website's lack of response.

Gee, thanks for protecting us, because obviously once one person has expressed an opinion, then no one else is entitled to express it too. Good catch, keep up the excellent policing. We are all better off due to your efforts.
I agree. A shocking, yet very telling "statement" by the Board and proof again that NO ONE has riders' backs. No one.

My 70-something dad was caught up in the Rosslyn chaos. He jokes that as he trudged up the broken escalator that I would have to write a post the next day entitled "Metro Killed My Dad."

Once he was released from Rosslyn, the guy hiked all the way to Ballston.

Good thing he's in decent shape.

Shame on Metro and shame on the Board for not seeking answers from Metro staff.
Sorry to hear about your dad's struggles. Glad he was alright.

What is this situation with the board you are referring to?
John: what folks are referring to is that the Metro Board held a meeting yesterday, and talked about Maps, the pending Silver Line expansion, and changes to existing Blue/Yellow line service. They did NOT even MENTION the complete fiasco that unfolded at Rosslyn on Tuesday night. Unsuck, keep up the great work, and glad to hear that your Dad is OK (and apparently has a great sense of humor). I joined him in the walk up Wilson Boulevard -- ableit from downtown DC.
Jesus christ, talk about having their head in the sand... Actually, correction... heads up their asses....
It is high time to start writing off these Board Members and calling in the FBI to investigate waste fraud and abuse. Why is it that when metro employees forward fraud to the new media then they want to change?!??
Does everybody see there are "cover up" problems at metro? Congress seems to go along with the ongoing mismanagement of federal tax dollars.
Did you know middle managers are squallared in coverups.
So... who had fun on the RED LINE this morning???

gaaah! -clutches head- 2 hrs 40 mins to get to work: car, train, walk, cab.

spent some time in two stations at least 35 minutes into the "incident:" no "delay" messages on the PID's. (no outbound trains listed either, which is telling for those of us regulars who know what it means). no station announcements. no signs at the gates. the only people telling new passengers not to come in were us old passengers coming out, saying "don't rush! you're not going anywhere." no station announcements. no announcements from the station mgrs (cleveland and van ness). people just coming in and giving their money to the system, which had no plans to take them anywhere.

-looks for something to throw-
I saw reports that there were Shuttle Buses at Judiciary Square, I sure as hell didn't see any! What a nightmare, and it happened just when the rain got bad!

That's my main problem right there - the total lack of communication. Yes, there are fires. Yes, trains break down. Yes, there are earthquakes. All kinds of crazy stuff happens.

None of us blame Metro for any of that. But what we do want is Metro employees to put up signs that say "Escalator Out, go to other end of platform for elevator", or tell us "Fire at Union Station, try taking a bus". Instead they hide in their kiosks (or disappear completely).
hmm. now imagine if this had happened at rosslyn instead of union. say, rosslyn, on tuesday night, at about 6:45 pm. station jam packed with people, no up escalators, then a track fire filling the station with smoke.

i've said it before, i'll say it again: wmata dodged a bullet the other night, but one of these days we're going to get nailed.

and why am i not surprised in the least that they didn't discuss rosslyn in the board meeting?? oh, that's right, because i've lived down here and read the papers and ridden the system for 26+ yrs.... i think i may be driving in on monday. just to see how it goes, ya know?
"wmata dodged a bullet the other night." Indeed.
You still ride metro?
They spent the most time yesterday talking about the stupid map and then after all of that talk, they punted.
Dr Gridlock and his posse of bozos over at Washington Post haven't even put anything up on their blog regarding the Union Station/Red Line fiasco. Their coverage is becoming more and more of a flat out JOKE.

Yes they have. They've had information up since about 9:20.
Yeah, they put it up around 10 AM. And then wrote a bunch of Lies about how there were shuttle buses at Judiciary Square and NY Avenue. There sure as hell weren't any at Judiciary Square.
Are you suggesting that they put it up at 10 and then manually overwrote the timestamp of the article to 9:26?
Yes I am. I checked the blog when I got into work at 9:45 (Thanks, Metro!) and nothing was there.
Dr Grid must get a kick back or perk like a $20 lunch. Can you provide me a media source who is truthful?
You are stupid to ride and spend your money on a mismanaged, unsafe system full of waste and corruption
