Metro Expands ... to Charlotte, NC

Photo via Susan Stabley

Check out the fake Metro station in Marshall Park in Charlotte, NC. Apparently, it's for the filming of the Showtime series "Homeland."

Films and TV shows often eschew the real Metro despite its occasional masterful performance.

Wonder if it's because producers fear being delayed and over budget.

I was wondering why a scene (in the 4400 if I remember right) that was supposed to take place in the metro system had so many inaccuracies. Plus, I do not remember any metro rules being broken ... the people with guns were tracking someone underground who was riding below and unarmed. No jumping faregates or anything. Maybe an extra was eating or something.

What?? Don't they want "delays" for authenticity? LOL! ;-)
Why would anyone want to film in a smoky toilet?
Is that the virtual tunnel?

So... metro can make a ton of money lending its location to Hollywood producers... BUT... they dont want anyone to be filmed breaking rules... so this rules out every HIGH BUDGET ACTION MOVIE EVER!!! And yet these bozos wonder why they are cash strapped and come to the conclusion that the only reason to raise revenue is to bump up fares...

Congratulations metro, you've outdone yourselves once again!!!!

i can hear the whiners now." what farragut north is closed because they are making a movie?? WWWAAAHHHH!!!!
also NC is way more favorable to DC in such things. way cheaper to shoot in NC than DC.
Its called after hours, jackass
hard to get them outside "DAY" shots when it is after hours....asshole
Why do you need day shots when most of metro is underground... asshole....
That station be renamed
"Farragut Station/Charlotte/Marshall Park/Showtime/Homeland"
Ummm ... is that pillar not touching the ground? Who did their research or are they not allowed to replicate it totally?
Bet the escalators work there.

Yeah I bet theres a stipulation that the movie companies can't film all the broken escalators and such

There's actually alot of retired Metro workers that go down to work for Charlotte's subway system.

So yeah.. Charlotte is doomed.

Charlotte doesn't have a subway.
Ahhhh!!!!! All the ambiance of the D.C. Metro............without getting your iPhone snatched!
Apparently, in this Showtime series, the Metro actually runs on time. What, haven't you ever heard of suspension of disbelief?
Why is that chair trying to get in the pool?

Good eyes. Looking closer, it's like the Great Lawnchair Massacre. The horror...
Ha ha ha, thanks for pointing that out!
I'm still waiting for the Georgetown Metro station I saw on True Lies.
That explains why the Charlotte Lynx system has been having problems the past week. I usually read this blog and think, thankfully Chalotte's trains aren't link DC's. I guess that won't be the case from now on. Thanks DC Metro.
