Metro Should Attend Next Time

Click for larger/legible

From the back of a recent Express.

Metro certainly has its share of "problems, curses, constant failure, blocked ways, bad luck and bad karma."

Maybe they should attend next time.

Think it might work for me to break the curse of having to ride Metro, having no other option?

Happy note of the day (irony abounds!). Cops all over my subway station this morning passing out cards about metro safety, a phone number to call for help and talking with people. I was impressed at how friendly and approachable every one of them were. Not sure if they were only Metro cops or uh.. cop-cops. (What does one call non-metro cops these days?) I said thanks for being around to one and got an appreciative smile and thanks in return. TSA was there too but I am not sure why. And perhaps it was police presence but I had an a/c'd car this morning and a smooth uneventful, timely ride in.

The world is ending, isn't it? ;-)

The cops who have jurisdiction in DC, Maryland, and Virginia who work for WMATA atr called "transit cops," while the DC cops are called "metro cops." A little confusing.
Waiting an hour at least once a week for a RideOn bus that once it arrives is overcrowded makes me feel like I'm going through constant failure, bad luck, bad karma & makes me experience feeling of jeaousy & envy.
I had a 10 minute wait at Silver Spring at 10:30 this morning after a dentist appointment for my commute to work.

10 minute waits while a train a sitting on the pocket track.

Metro, your service is frigging terrible.
My favorite gem that I'd like fixed is the "stand by train moving forward" curse that I endure which seems to be my regular nausea inducing morning. Can anyone explain why the train needs to move forward 2 feet because the driver can't operate the controls properly? Is someone really likely to fall in front of the train if they don't?

They need to move the train forward so that it's right at the end of the platform; otherwise it won't fit in the station. This obviously doesn't matter for six-car trains, but because the operators cannot be trusted to know how many cars are in their train, they all must pull to the end. But apparently they all really stink at gauging how quickly to brake. I've been on some trains where the operator literally braked a dozen times to get to the edge of the platform.

Think of it as a game of quarters..
At first glance, I thought this was a joke. I saved the page, it seems outdated and cavemanish.
