It needs a few ferns, maybe one of those little mirror balls.

even that much rain can't wash the years of FAIL off of metro.
Woodley Park/Zoo Metro has a permanent mini fountain spouting from the wall on the Glenmont side. It's been there well over a year. They attempted to correct it but true to Metro form, it was only a temporary fix.

I'm delighted to know that the Woodley Park fountain is still there. I moved to a different neighborhood a year ago and haven't taken the opportunity to go to that Metro stop to visit it. I venture to say the little fountain has been there well over 2 years.
They need to heat up the ground a bit; get the water into a nice mist; and Foggy Bottom can truly live up to its name.

How is that not a gigantic electrocution hazard with the 3rd rail?!

I'm glad someone got a picture. I tried to this morning but couldn't manage a good one with my blackberry. I did, however, say something to the station manager out of concern for, you know, the ceiling caving. His response? "Oh. Well you have an umbrella, you'll be fine."
Foggy Bottom is a nightmare these days...constant escalator outages. Fine, I
will walk up but they seem to have 2 out of 3 closed off.

Amid all of the things that went wrong with Metro today, I would like to complement the station manager at Rosslyn. I was waiting inside the station near the turnstiles for the crazy thunderstorm to pass this morning. A woman went through the turnstiles with no shoes on. I didn't even notice but the station manager, who was standing outside his little room/hut, did. He warned her that she couldn't get onto the escalators with no shoes on, so she pulled out some flip-flops and put them on before going down to the platform.
It probably wouldn't have affected other riders, but she could have seriously injured herself going down the escalator with no shoes. I commend the Rosslyn manager for a) noticing and b) taking responsibility and caring enough to point out this potential safety hazard.

He was still enforcing the rules. I'll settle for that. So many managers seem to just sit there and let people do whatever they want, regardless of safety or the rules for the system. I was just happy to see the guy doing his job.
