Pet the collective bargaining agreement, ATU 689 drivers are not required to open the bus doors more than once per 7.453 minutes.

They open them that often? Not in my experience.

The bus driver's feet are tasty.

Metroescalator is a horrible blog. Take your spiteful comments away from this blog. Fill your own cyber 'space' with your drivel and don't bring it here.
I just picture Bad Santa with lettuce coming out of his mouth screaming at a little kid, "I'm on my lunch break!!!"

And remembering poor ole McGruff. Why is it that any business in America would fire you for acts like this except WMATA?

Let's not go down the road you're going. This isn't the Deep South.
Deep south? Now that is offensive.
Give the driver a break and let her read her newspaper!
She is just trying to pick up some ideas for her own Tyler Perry ‘Diary’.
Besides, Jeter will protect this driver through her slavery accusations. No one is going to argue with a 149 woman.
Remember that skit from Chappelle Show, which was a training video for a Kinko's type place, where the purpose of the video was to train the employees how to treat customers like crap? Yeah, I think Metro uses a similar video to train their employees.

To the OP: Did you send the picture along with a complaint to WMATA?

Don't worry. She won't be behind the wheel for long. We have big plans for her as a station manager where she'll be able to interact with an even greater number of riders.

I never understood the term "Station Manager." They're not managing anyone/anything, not setting train schedules, they don't even know when the next trains are due to arrive. At best they're glorified attendants who most of the time are unnecessarily rude to patrons. They don't handle issues or organize a team of people to solve problems, they merely phone them in, if you're lucky. 9 out of 10 times they have some weird unjustified spiteful chip on their shoulders when you ask them for help with something simple a smartrip error. I've traveled on many transit systems all around the globe, but I've never dealt with one like metro where everyone seems to be angry at the customers for no good reason. Heck, I can't think of ANY dealings with any business where employees were so indignant towards customers. At times, it's almost comical.
What's YOUR point? Are you just here to spam your website?
Whoa, I love this site, and I agree that a lot of WMATA employees embrace the suck. But some of these comments are straddling the line. Don't take it there, please.
Its sad to say but Metro is like the MOB, thats why it's Employees doesn't care about the Patrons.
Referring to the consultants as committing "real theft" is a bit much. I agree that the consultants who did the "Life Without Metro" presentation would fall under that label. But if you've got an operation that cannot keep track of fare money, it's going to take someone from the outside to come in and fix it. I certainly wouldn't trust an internal team with correcting the problem.

Fair enough, but Metro track record with consultants does not lead one to have much faith that a) there's a real need for them or b) if there is, that Metro will take the advice.

What about the past retired leaders/mgnt. hired as consultant. Hell, they could not figure out the problem when they were Metro employee. Favortism? Why would a contract be given to them? Metro flanuts their corrupt behavior. You can not touch these idoits. Soverign immunity is their protection and they know it.
Did the OP file a complaint and send WMATA the photo? Oh that's right...WMATA doesn't have that feature. Just tweet the photo, bus route and number to Dan Stessel and he'll take care of it.

Tweet to Dan Stessel's dormant twitter account? That'll do wonders!

Rely on the GHETTO for drivers? Yes, what this driver did was very UNPROFESSIONAL. But, how do you know where the majority of metro employees are from? Not all black people grew up in the hood! Everytime I read this blog I see nothing but black stereotypes and indirect racism. Tyler Perry? Edumucation? Really?? Clowns!
2 replies · active 690 weeks ago
Every time? Please! There are always going to be racist comments on a blog.

Ignore the idiots. How can dumb comments like that make you mad.

BTW, I'm black FWIW.
what a defeatist attitude.

The driver is in fact reading a bus route guide, not a newspaper. As for the door being shut, she radioed in that she was having problems with the doors and was waiting for a Metro fast response crew to arrive.

Thank you for choosing Metro.

Why don't you understand that racist comments detract from the bigger issue? Nothing will ever get accomplished if racial finger pointing is the talk of the town.
Most of the drivers are from the DMV area, mainly DC or MUURALIN (Maryland) as the locals love to pronounce it. Let's not sugar coat the truth. Most of the locals from this area act like they reside on a plantation. That's the cold hard truth. Technically, D.C. is the 'south' and the local people show that much hasn't changed since emancipation. The smart people ran north, the stuck around with what is 'familiar'. Generations of ignorance right at our fingertips. Let's stop being politically correct, and call it what it is. DC, and MURRALIN are full of 4th generation slaves, and METRO loves to employ them because it's based on cronyism. So is the federal government, except both blacks and whites practice cronyism there. Capital Hill is the exact same thing, just a different skin color and more likely a more digestible class system for most. No need to get uptight, I can't STAND the locals here but I'm not from here:)

Your here now though. Perhaps the SLAVE mentality has rubbed off on you? I say that because your comment has to be the most ignorant foolery I have ever read....MORON! You just made the main topic of dinner conversation tonight!
